October 29th and 30th 2011 - Saturday and Sunday

Spruce Knob/Seneca Creek and the North Fork Mountain Tour is a two day bicycle tour on West Virginia's most challenging and scenic trails in the Monongahelia National Forest. This tour is offered by Shenandoah Mountain Touring, LLC under permit by the Monongahelia National Forest. The trip can be booked individually and by special appointment with 14 day advance notice. It is offered annually in the fall.

Saturday Oct 29th- Spruce Knob/Seneca Creek IMBA Epic Ride
9:00 AM meeting - Seneca Rocks Discovery Center
9:30 AM departing the parking lot of the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center, by vehicle driving to Spruce Knob. Its about a 2 hr climb by bicycle to the parking lot at Spruce Knob if you wanted to ride up.
10:30 AM relaxing departure bicycling from Spruce Knob into Seneca Creek Potential Wilderness Area. We will start riding from Spruce Knob and complete an amazing loop that descends Alleghany Mtn. Trail to Rt. 33 followed by a 5 mile ride on the road to the visitor center.

Make a point to visit the Gendarme/ Harpers Front Porch Restaurant next to the The Gendarme-Seneca Rocks Climbing School, both iconic stores to experience in Seneca Rocks, WV -


Sunday Oct. 30th - North Fork Mountain Trail IMBA Epic Ride

8:00 AM depart for car drop at northern parking lot on Smoke Hole Rd.
10 AM riding North Fork Mountain Trail from Rt. 33 heading north back to your car at the north parking lot
expect 6-8 hrs of time on this glorious trail!

Bring your camera and be prepared to experience surreal solitude as you ride your bicycle into a truly amazing wild and remote area.

These rides will showcase the amazing views and trails in West Virginia's Spruce Knob/ Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area. Wilderness designation is a current threat to these iconic rides and this will likely continue into the future. We need to better document mountain bike use and insist that mountain biking and conservation of public lands are compatible in this region.
