2002 |

Press Release October 16th.......... On a quiet rainy evening in Harrisonburg at a undisclosed location the committee of Six Pack Riders converged to finalized the details of the 8th Annual Six Pack Invitational. There had been much discussion throughout the past weeks of the long time tradition falling to the wayside but with determination the group "hashed" out a hand full of ideas that will let this year's event recharge the spectacle for years to come. Even though the official downhill was not finalized the group did agree that the Braley Pond or Chimney Hollow course had all the ingredients to attract participants from around the globe. Both prospective downhills have always been a highlight of speed and skill and will require stamina due to the length of each trail. Because of tightened security at most International Airports the Ante has been changed for the 2002 event. Recent Six Pack publicity trips to Idaho, California, and Turkey have proven that the traditional ante (case of fine beer, dime bag or bottle of jaeger) would prevent the World Class field to assemble in the George Washington National Forest. This year's ante has been changed to $25 American Dollars which should help gather the needed supplies to keep the "drug tent" safe and secure. One item that was left in the air during last night's meeting was securing a party venue. With the events like 9/11 and the recent Sniper Attacks there is much tension in the air but with added security help from Marshall University, riders will have no concern for their safety. One item on this year's calendar that received complete support from all "higher" members was the site of the Uni's. The fix gear off road event will once again take place at the "Rock Garden" in Downtown Harrisonburg. As more details are released we will let you know!! Sincerely Hugh Jass... |
